The Color of the Sky Over Timpanogos

I already bought the paint for my office - a pale sky blue. But today was such a beautiful day and the sky over Timpanogos was the perfect shade of blue. I decided I needed the paint to be a deeper blue so I took it back to Columbia and they remixed the perfect blue. For free!

And I love it.

I finished painting the ceiling today - just four coats to take it from navy to white. (Actually from "Enchanted Blue" to "Apple Peel") And got one coat on most of the walls, except behind the desk because I was waiting for Michael and Drew to move it out from the wall this evening. Since Todd already took out the light fixture, (which I'm changing) I have to paint when it's light outside! I should finish all painting tomorrow and then the fun begins!

P.S. I also took a full trunk load to DI today ~ the result of my closet purging!

What I've Been Up To and Thanks, Shari

As I mentioned, I've been working on cleaning out all the closets, drawers and cupboards this month. It's a slow process (especially for an older lady with a 4-week old cold/cough) But I'm pretty much done with the cleaning out and moving on to painting my office. (Which job I am procratinating by posting on my blog)

My friend, Shari, stopped by last week and I forced her to check out the changes in my bedroom. They are subtle changes ~ I took out all "beach-related" decor (moving it to my new Coronado Beach-themed office) and moved a few things from the the old Star Room to the bedroom.

Shari came back a few hours later with a gift: 7 yards of beautiful blue toile fabric! I decided to make a duvet cover for a twin down comforter I already had and some pillows for my bed. I just love it! Now I have a lovely throw for naptime on my bed.

Speaking of naptime, my friend Lynette, who is spending three months in Spain with her family, commented on her blog:

"I love the siesta. It's like you not only have permission to take a nap everyday, but you are encouraged to do so."

How can we get the siesta concept going in our culture?

Here are some more pictures of my newly cleaned out and decorated bedroom, bathroom and the exercise/play room that I improved with some furniture rearrangement.

(I should have turned the TV off ~ just focus on the decorations)

For Kim

Kim Claybaugh Jonas gave me these cute shoes after I requested them because she offered them on her blog.

I just thought she'd like to see that I am wearing them.

I'm Back

I have been delinquent in blogging for the last little while. When I got back from New York there was housework and laundry and yardwork to catch up on, Relief Society assignments, My Dear Husband's Birthday, Labor Day, the last couple of days at the pool

. . .

But now the pool is closed, the yard work is slowing down, the Visiting Teaching Workshop and Dinner is over (yeah!) and I feel like my life is my own again.
Knock on wood!

The pictures are all out of the cameras and blogged (I put them in chronological order, so you may have to skip around to see the new ones) and now I'm on to my next big projects:

Cleaning all the cupboards, closets, and drawers in the house
(What can I say, the urge just hits me from time to time)

Redecorating my bedroom and my office:

The Star Room is becoming

The Coronado Beach room!

I was inspired by this photo I saw on this blog.

Wait for it . . .
